Braised Cabbage and Apples

The love the combination of sweet and sour and this recipe has just that. I’ve always loved sauerkraut, but the apples and brown sugar give just enough sweetness to balance the sour of the vinegar. I love to try new cabbage recipes because a lot of times I end up with almost a full head of cabbage that needs to be used. A recipe will call for a small amount of shredded cabbage, so I usually buy a whole head since it’s so cheap compared to the pre-shredded bagged variety. I love how the ingredients in this recipe are so bright and colorful, at least until it’s cooked and everything turns red/purple!
